Craft Trove

Effective date: 4 November 2026 · Applies to Craft Trove for iPhone

Craft Trove ("the app") is an inventory for your wool stash — shelves, yarns, quantities, colours, notes and where each thing is stored. This policy explains what the app stores, what (if anything) leaves your device, and the choices you control. The app is designed to keep your stash data under your control.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData storage:

  • shelves and their contents (yarn names, brands, manufacturer colour codes, quantities, and notes);
  • photos you add to an entry (downscaled on save to keep them small);
  • storage locations, including notes such as which cupboard or box something is in, and whether a location is hard to reach;
  • simple preferences, such as your sort order and display settings.

This data stays on your device unless you choose to export it (below).

Advertising

The free version of the app shows a single small banner ad on some screens (never on Search and never inside the add/edit forms). Ads are served by Google AdMob.

The app requests non-personalised ads only. It does not use the App Tracking Transparency prompt and does not use your advertising identifier to tailor ads to you. Google's ad software in the app still sends Google standard technical information — such as your IP address (from which an approximate location can be worked out), a device identifier, device type, ad interaction data, and crash and performance diagnostics — used to serve and measure ads, prevent fraud, and credit the developer. This is described in more detail in:

If you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, Google's consent message is shown before ads are displayed, as required by law.

Privacy choices — changing or withdrawing ad consent

If Google's consent message was shown to you, you can change or withdraw that answer at any time — consent is not a one-off, and you are not locked into whatever you chose first.

In the app: open Settings → Support → Privacy choices. This presents the same consent form again so you can switch between accepting and rejecting. The row appears only when your consent choices actually apply to you and the app has been able to reach Google to check them this session. If it isn't there, either no consent choice applies on your device or the app couldn't reach Google (for example, with no network) — try again when you're online.

Otherwise: use the contact form and say you'd like your ad consent withdrawn, and it will be actioned.

Refusing or withdrawing consent does not disable the app or its purchases — the app keeps working. Ads stay non-personalised either way; Google reads your choice and, depending on it, may show limited ads or none at all. If the consent check can't be completed (for example, with no network), the app shows no ads. If you never saw a consent message, your device is either outside the regions where consent is required, or the app hasn't yet been able to reach Google to ask — in which case it shows no ads until it can.

In-app purchases

Purchases ("Remove Ads" and optional tips) are handled entirely by Apple's App Store. Apple collects your payment details under Apple's privacy policy; the developer never sees or stores your payment information. The developer receives only confirmation that a purchase or restore occurred.

Information the app does not collect

The app does not:

  • send your stash data — shelves, yarns, quantities, locations, notes or photos — to the developer or to any other company;
  • include analytics or crash-reporting services of its own (Google's ad software collects the diagnostics described under Advertising);
  • track you across apps or websites owned by other companies;
  • require an account or collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contact details as part of using the app;
  • show personalised ads based on your activity.

The only data that can leave your device is: (a) a CSV or JSON file you choose to export from Settings → Export / import, which goes only where you send it with the share sheet (for example Files, Mail or AirDrop) and never to the developer; (b) standard technical information sent with ad and consent requests to Google's servers; and (c) whatever you choose to include in a message you send through the contact form.

Your controls and deletion

You can delete individual yarns, shelves and locations in the app at any time. Deleting the app from your device removes all locally stored app data. Files you exported are yours and are not affected; delete them wherever you saved them.

Children's privacy

The developer does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Google's ad software in the app collects the technical information described under Advertising for every user; ads are always requested as non-personalised, and the app is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in updated app releases.
