CraftGrid

Effective date: 27 October 2026 · Applies to CraftGrid for iPhone

CraftGrid ("the app") turns a pattern idea — a pattern type, your colours and a size — into a colour chart and row-by-row written instructions you can follow, save and export. This policy explains what the app handles, where it is stored, and your controls over it. The app is designed to keep your patterns entirely on your device.

What the app does

The app lets you create ten kinds of pattern: gingham (4 colours), checkerboard, horizontal and vertical stripes, brick/offset, diagonal stripes, chevron/zigzag and diamonds/rhombus (2 colours each), granny squares (3 rounds), and emoji pixel patterns, where you pick an emoji and the app turns it into a coloured grid of up to 10 sampled colours plus a background. You pick the pattern type, the colours, the size in squares and (for written instructions) the stitch. The app then generates a colour chart and/or written instructions, which you can save, export, or both.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData storage:

  • saved patterns — their name, colour choices (including any colour names you typed), size, stitch, the generated chart and rows, and a small thumbnail image;
  • simple preferences, such as the paper size for PDF exports and the default settings for new patterns.

This data stays on your device. The app has no cloud sync, no account and no server — your patterns do not leave your device.

Photos and camera

The app offers an optional colour sampler: you can take a photo or choose one from your photo library, then drag over it to pick an exact colour to use in a pattern. The photo is used only while you are sampling it and is then discarded — the app stores the chosen colour, never the photo.

When you choose a photo to sample, the app reads only that single photo. It does not browse, collect, or upload your photo library.

The app can also save a finished chart image to your photo library when you choose to export it. This uses an add-only permission — the app writes only the chart image you asked for and never reads your photo library while saving.

Exports

You can export a pattern as a chart image saved to your Photos, or as a PDF (chart, instructions, or both together). The file is created on your device; the PDF is shared through the system share sheet using the app you choose. The app does not upload or transmit any export.

Information the app does not collect

The app does not:

  • collect or transmit any data to the developer or any third party;
  • use analytics or crash-reporting services;
  • include advertising or in-app purchases;
  • track you across apps or websites owned by other companies;
  • require an account or collect personal information such as your name, email address, or contact details;
  • sync your data to iCloud, any cloud service, or any server.

Your controls and deletion

You can delete individual saved patterns from the Projects screen at any time. Deleting the app from your device removes all locally stored app data.

Children's privacy

The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal information, there is nothing to collect from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in updated app releases.
