Pain Tracker

Effective date: 3 November 2026 · Applies to Pain Tracker for iPhone and iPad

Pain Tracker ("the app") is a diary for pain that may not go away. You set your usual pain level, then log how each moment compares with it, with tags and notes, and the app shows how your tags and pain tend to go together over time. What you record is personal health information, so this policy explains exactly what the app stores, where it stays, and your controls over it. In short: it stays on your device, or in your own private iCloud if you turn sync on. Nothing is sent to the developer.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your iPhone or iPad using Apple's SwiftData storage:

  • an optional profile — the first name, condition description and "living with this since" date you choose to enter, and your colour theme;
  • your usual pain levels — each level, the date it applies from and any note, kept as a history when your usual changes;
  • your entries — each pain level (0–10), the date and time, the tags you choose and any note you write;
  • your tags — their names and colours;
  • simple preferences on each device, such as your reminder times and which Insights view you last used.

Averages, comparisons with your usual level and the Insights are worked out on your device each time they are shown; they are not sent anywhere.

iCloud sync (optional)

iCloud sync is off unless you turn it on, during setup or in Settings. When it is on, your profile, usual levels, entries and tags are stored in your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. That database belongs to your iCloud account: the developer cannot see or access it. Turning sync off stops further syncing; data already in iCloud can be removed under Settings → [your name] → iCloud.

Reminders

If you add reminders, the app asks permission to show notifications and schedules them on your device, as many a day as you choose. A reminder's "About my usual" button logs your usual level directly on your device. Notifications are created locally; nothing is sent from a server.

Exports

You can create a report as a PDF, plain text or CSV file and share it through the system share sheet, for example with your doctor. The file is created on your device and goes only where you send it; the app does not upload it anywhere.

Information the app does not collect

The app does not:

  • collect or transmit any data to the developer or any third party;
  • read from or write to Apple Health;
  • use analytics or crash-reporting services;
  • include advertising or in-app purchases;
  • track you across apps or websites owned by other companies;
  • require an account or collect contact details such as your email address.

Your health information is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold and never shared.

Your controls and deletion

You can edit or delete any entry from the History screen, change or remove your usual levels, rename, archive or delete tags, and edit your profile in Settings. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. If you turned on iCloud sync, also remove its data from iCloud as described above.

Children's privacy

The app is for people aged 13 and over and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal information at all, there is nothing to collect.

Not medical advice

The app records what you enter and shows patterns in it. Insights describe what tended to happen together, not what causes what, and nothing in the app is medical advice. Talk to a health professional about your care.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be reflected in updated app releases.
